What is ADSL?

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, or ADSL, is a technology that provides broadband Internet access over a standard residential or small office telephone line, at speeds that are an order of magnitude faster than the best dialup modem connection. Unlike traditional modem based 'dialup' access, ADSL is an always-on technology, which means that you don't have to wait to connect up - your computer is always 'on the net'.

ADSL operates through your standard telephone line without interrupting your use of the telephone. You can place and receive telephone calls at the same time as you use the Internet. You do not need a second telephone line, and you will never have to 'dial up' again!

1 Minimum assured bandwidth of 1500/256 Kbps. Service will be connected to ADSL2+ infrastructure where available with a maximum possible bandwidth of 20000/1000 Kbps. Where this isn't available, the service will be connected to ADSL1 infrastructure with a maximum possible bandwidth of 8000/384 Kbps. Telstra have notified us that the speeds available may be limited to a maximum of 3000 Kbps in some (unspecified) locations, where insufficient backhaul capacity exists to support higher speeds at this time. Maximum possible speed obtainable depends on the length and quality of your phone line from your telephone exchange as well as the type of ADSL modem you are using. Vintek does not guarantee that customers who select the 20000 Kbps services will be able to obtain the full quoted speed.

Maximum possible speed obtainable depends on the length and quality of your phone line from your telephone exchange as well as the type of ADSL modem you are using. Vintek does not guarantee that customers who select the 20000 Kbps services will be able to obtain the full quoted speed.

    • Month by month with one of the following activation fees and no exit fee:

      • New Install - $129.00

        Choose this option if your service is a brand new DSL service. Available on all plans listed on this page.

      • Churn - $39.00

        Choose this option if you have a DSL service with another internet service provider and you wish to move to Vintek. Available on the ADSL1 and ADSL2+ National plans listed on this page. Please note that the churn process is only available through certain participating ISPs.

      • Relocation - $99.00

        Choose this option if you require your existing Vintek provided DSL service to be moved to another location. Available on all plans listed on this page.

      • Single Service Transfer - $129.00

        Choose this option if you would like to move your current DSL service that is provided by another internet service provider to a Vintek ADSL2+ service. Please note that this service must be supported by your current ISP. Please contact our Vintek staff if you are not sure. Available on ADSL2+ Premier plans listed on this page.

      • Single Service Migration - $49.00

        Choose this option if you would like to move from a Vintek ADSL1 service to a Vintek ADSL2+ service. Please note that your current exchange must support ADSL2+ services. Available on ADSL2+ Premier plans listed on this page.

    • 24 month contract with one of the following activation fees and an early termination fee of $120.00 if the contract is broken within the first 12 months or $65.00 if the contract is broken within the second 12 months. Once the 24 month contract has been completed your service is automatically renewed on a month by month basis and 1 month contract conditions then apply.

      • New Install - $79.00

        Choose this option if your service is a brand new DSL service. Available on all plans listed on this page.

      • Churn - $0.00

        Choose this option if you have a DSL service with another internet service provider and you wish to move to Vintek. Available on the ADSL1 and ADSL2+ National plans listed on this page. Please note that the churn process is only available through certain participating ISPs.

        • you can choose to have this done at no charge, in which case you enter a new 24 month contract term on the service at your new premises; or

        • you can choose to pay $99 for the relocation, and your remaining contract term (if any) is carried across on the service at your new premises - ie it is not restarted.

      • Single Service Transfer - $79.00

        Choose this option if you would like to move your current DSL service that is provided by another internet service provider to a Vintek ADSL2+ service. Please note that this service must be supported by your current ISP. Please contact our Vintek staff if you are not sure. Available on ADSL2+ Premier plans listed on this page.

      • Single Service Migration - $0.00

        Choose this option if you would like to move from a Vintek ADSL1 service to a Vintek ADSL2+ service. Please note that your current exchange must support ADSL2+ services. Available on ADSL2+ Premier plans listed on this page.

  • No shaping or throttling of any type.

  • No Excess Fees apply for unlimited plans.

  • Static IP address provided (IP address is retained by us on termination of service)

  • Option of 6 static IP addresses, additional $20 per month.

  • Dialup account and mailbox included. Dialup account includes 10 hours of usage free, extra hours charged at $1.00 per hour in arrears.

  • Upgrade to 300 hours of dial up access for an extra $10 p/month.

  • Data downloads exceeding included downloads billed at $0.10 per MB (Monthly in arrears)

  • Business ADSL plans include a single mailbox.

  • No regional surcharge (Same access prices for any area we cover, metro or regional)

  • No upload surcharge (All upload data is free of charge)

  • Business plans are operated on a nil-effective-contention ratio basis.

  • Premier 20000k plans are only available in certain areas/exchanges at this time (Agile Enabled Exchanges). Please contact us for more information on what is required and whether you are eligible for these plans.

  • Free .on.net sub-domain (Choose your own sub-domain name e.g. 'mycompany.on.net' - subject to approval by Vintek).

Can I get ADSL at my business?

When applying for ADSL, Vintek will conduct a number of checks to ensure that DSL can be successfully connected to your service number.

These checks include confirmation of:

  1. Your telephone exchange has been enabled for ADSL

  2. Your proximity to the telephone exchange

  3. Availability of spare capacity

  4. Other products and services in use that may impact the ability to connect to DSL

If you pass this check your ADSL application will be accepted into our system. Once an application has been entered our qualified technicians will carry out steps 2-4 noted above to further check if we can provide you with ADSL.

What are my system requirements?

To be eligible for ADSL you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your local telephone exchange must support ADSL

  • You must be within 3 to 4 kilometres of your exchange

  • Must have an existing, operational voice telephone line

  • An ADSL modem (contact us for latest prices)
