Setting up an ADSL connection using a Billion Bipac 711 C2 or 7100S series ADSL modem router

If you are connecting the Billion Bipac 711 C2 ADSL Modem Router to your computer via USB connection, complete steps 1, 2 & 3.

If you are connecting the Billion Bipac 711 C2 or 7100S Modem Router via an Ethernet LAN (Network) connection, complete steps 1 & 3.

  • Step 1

    • Connect the ADSL Modem/Router to the PC and telephone line. Switch on your ADSL Modem/Router and PC.

    • On the front of the product is a bank of lights. As a first check, please verify that the PWR and ADSL SYN lights are lit.

    • For users connecting the router to your computer via a USB cable, ensure the USB light is also lit. Users connecting the router via an Ethernet LAN (Network) connection, ensure that the LNK light is also lit.

  • Step 2 (If you are connecting the modem via an ethernet LAN connection skip to step 3)

    • Place the CD-Rom provided into your CD-Rom Drive.

    • Windows will detect the new hardware and launch a New Hardware Wizard.

    • When prompted to search for drivers choose Install from a list or specific location. Then click Next.

    • Select Search removable media and click Next

    • It may take a few seconds to search and install the software.

      If a window titled Hardware Installation or Software Installation appears, click Continue Anyway, as the software will not impair or destabilize your system.

      Then click Finish

      If another Find New Hardware Wizard box pops up, repeat step 2 again.

  • Step 3

    • Click on Start, Programs, Internet Explorer

    • Type http://192.168.1.254 in the address bar at the top of the screen and press enter on your keyboard

    • Enter in admin as the username and password as the password in the box that appears then click OK

    • On the left side of the screen, click on Quick Start.

    • Select PPPoE as the Encapsulation.

    • Disable the bridge.

    • The VPI should be set at 8 and the VCI should be set at 35.

    • Clear all numbers for the Static IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.

    • If it doesn’t allow you to leave these fields blank, then enter 0.0.0.0 in each of the fields.

    • Enter your Username in the format of username@adsl.on.net and enter in your password.

    • Under Per VC Settings, choose Yes to Enable, and set the Virtual Circuit as 0.

    • For the DNS Proxy Selection select Use Auto Discovered DNS Servers Only.

    • Enter 0.0.0.0 for both the Preferred and Alternate DNS Server.

    • Click Save Config located in the bottom right corner.

    • Click the Save Config to Flash button located on the left side of the screen.
